時隔6年再度重返亞洲盃男排賽，中華男排22日首戰對決地主泰國，雙方血戰5局，最終由中華隊以3比2(25：23、23：25、25：20、22：25、27：25)辛苦搶下勝利。
本屆賽事在泰國佛統舉行，首戰對決地主，中華隊開局雖陷入1：5落後，但隨後靠著「黃金左手」吳宗軒的活躍攻擊將比數追成12：12，之後一路維持領先，以25：23先馳得點。
次局雙方持續拉鋸，中華隊雖以23：25被扳平戰局，但第三局靠著對手失誤過多，掌握住節奏，以25：20率先聽牌。
可惜第四局中華隊再度陷入開局落後的局面，儘管一度追到21：22僅1分落後，但接下來卻被泰國連拿3分，同樣取得聽牌。
決勝局兩隊都展現超強意志力，從搶15分一路拉鋸到25：25，所幸中華隊靠著黃培閎關鍵小球建功，最終以27：25拿下，辛苦搶下首勝。
中華隊本屆賽事與泰國、哈薩克、中國同分在A組，B組則是日本、南韓、伊朗以及澳洲，小組進行單循環後依排名進行兩組交叉淘汰選出四強；中華隊下一戰將於23日20點對戰哈薩克。
